Flashed the arete at Quarry Wall
Went to Quarry Wall mostly to work the classic V5 in the cave, but the pads were already down at the arete boulder so we warmed up there instead.
Never tried Arete Left before — read it as a straightforward arete climb but the opening move is a big rockover onto a foot smear with nothing for the hands but a gaston. Committed to it on the first try and it just went. Flash, no fuss, which almost never happens to me on anything steeper than slab.
Spent the rest of the session getting shut down repeatedly on the V5 project in the cave — heel hook keeps popping. Something for next time.
Beta notes
- Gaston is better than it looks; trust it and commit to the rockover fast.
- Topout is juggy once you're past the crux — don't hesitate.
